This last week I built a snow fort with my 3 nephews. It was the biggest snow fort I have ever seen. It is big enough that I could stand up on the inside. And was about 10x10 on the inside with chairs, couches and hay.
The grass you see is hay because it acts as an insulator between your butt and the cold snow. And works really well I might add.

No, the secret is getting the right shovel. I had a sturdy metal shovel with a SHORT handle. This allowed me to get in there and take the snow out in chunks anywhere I wanted. Which made it easier and quicker to build as well. Probably about 4 hours total for what you see.
Also might want to get some little boys to take the snow chunks away from the door as you are shoveling it out from the inside.
