“The world in general doesn't know what to make of originality; it is startled out of its comfortable habits of thought, and its first reaction is one of anger.” -- W. Somerset Maugham
People tend to naturally shy away from change?
Why?
Because we have been programmed for millions of years that change is often associated with danger.
When you are walking through the woods and you see same, trees, same, trees, grass, same, leaves, same, etc. You are safe.
But if you see something moving, something different, it could be a tiger coming to eat you. Different is often dangerous.
So it literally takes work to move towards change. Because it has been habitually associated with danger in your DNA.
But you now have your conscious mind. And your conscious mind (with the help of your RNA) can actually reprogram your DNA and you can move past the change = danger response. |
