“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” -- Ursula K. LeGuin
Having Goals is Great. But if all you focus on is the goal and not having fun in the process, life will quickly become void and empty.
Ever notice that how sometimes when you get a goal or something you have wanted for a while, you are happy for only a short time?
Goals and things and money do not make us happy. Having things does not make us happy. It is the process, the day to day journey that brings us happiness.
Or said another way, it is being in the present moment of now that brings us happiness. Focusing to much on the future, too much on your goal, and not enough on the process of getting there, and you will not be happy and fulfilled.
The present is called the present because it is a present if you accept it. It is a gift filled with everything life has to offer. The present is a gift filled with all the joy and happiness you can accept, if you will just accept it.
A great movie, “Peaceful Warrior” has a whole scene dedicated to learning that joy and happiness comes from the journey, not the destination. |
