So I bought a property that had some issues with past due bills.
What do you do when people are calling your number harassing you about bills that are not yours? (or sometimes even when they are yours)
I called to find out what to do to take care of this and next time they call I get their mailing address and send a certified letter stating that person/business no longer has this phone number or lives/occupies this address. In the letter state you are requesting they never call this number or send mail to this address ever again. Also put in the letter that if they do not, you will contact the department of finance and report them.
Then if it doesn’t take care of the problem you can actually call the department of finance and report them, and shortly you will stop getting calls from them.
That is the legal way to do it.
Often you can ask to speak with a supervisor, and ask the supervisor for the mailing address to send the certified letter to stop calling this number, then ask the supervisor if they will just take you off the list, because if not, you will send the letter, and if after the letter they still don’t stop you will call the department of finance, they will often just take you off the list right then and there.
