Nothing means anything except the meaning you give it or accept from other what it means
What does this mean? Well lets give it some meaning.
It means that really, everything is meaning less – and it doesn’t even mean anything that it doesn’t mean anything.
If you talk about someone behind their back, that doesn’t mean anything except what you say it means, or accept as what other people say it means.
If you help feed the hungry, it doesn’t inherently mean you are a good person. It only means what you make it mean.
Now the freedom comes from this insight like this.
If nothing means anything, that “means” you can make it mean anything.
You get to say what something means and no one else.
Sure, there may be a meaning that the majority of people would agree upon. But that is not the “inherent meaning” that is the meaning that all those people made up. If you don’t like that meaning, make up something else.
After all, all meaning is made up. Some meaning have more agreement among people than others, but they are all made up. |
