I think I wrote about this once before, but I am revisiting it again if I did.
People often get opinions and beliefs confused. And this can be a fatal error.
Why?
Because beliefs run our world without us even thinking about it. And opinions are not the truth, are not how it is, they are only how we want to think it is. And often, our opinions do not serve us or give us happiness.
In my quote of the week I talk about how beliefs are often mistaken for “truths” whether or not the belief/truth hurts us.
Knowing that what you believe about the world influences you more than what is “true” about the world, you might want to reconsider what you hold as an opinion. Because opinions often turn into beliefs, without even realizing it.
So when you say or think, that is my opinion, ask yourself, does that opinion serve you? Because you will unconsciously try to prove it right by the experiences in your life reinforcing the opinion, until it becomes a belief. It is a natural mechanism that every human has. Proving themselves right. Have you ever seen someone try and prove themselves wrong? |
