Last week I talked about asking for what you want. And that many people were not sure what they wanted.
Today, I am going to talk about why they don’t know what they want.
Because we live in a society that tells us the goal and role of the human being in the universe is to get more stuff. But when we get more stuff, it doesn’t really make us happy or give us peace. It may for a bit, but not very long.
That we are told about 10,000 times a day that consumerism is the goal. That we should want bigger and better stuff. That this will make us happy.
See, underneath it all we are all looking for peace, happiness, love, God, whatever you want to call it. It is all the same thing to me. and most people have yet to question that the very fabric of consumerism is the faulty problem. That it is not about bigger and better stuff. But going within and seeking happiness within. Then whatever you have on the outside will be as it is. And you will be happy, peaceful and on your way to a truly happy life.
There is a great movie (granted, not exciting or action packed) by Brian Swimme. It is called the Hidden Heart of the Cosmos. It is about how to shift your thinking from outer satisfaction leading to happiness and peace to inner satisfaction leading to happiness and peace.
It can be purchased by calling (in the US) 1-800- 273-3720. It was $40 last I checked.
